Welcome to my second product review! Allow me to introduce the stylus pen. I have used this product in my work and personal life, almost daily, for over a year now.
I rank products on a scale of 1-5 stars based on the following criteria:
Review Criteria (Scale 1-5)
● Ease of setup – 5
● Ease of use – 5
● Risk of new RSI – 3
● Hand risk – 2
● Portability – 5
● Price – 5
● Appearance/Coolness – 5
I give Ease of setup 5 out of 5 because there is no setup!
I give Ease of use 5 out of 5 because they are extremely easy to use.
They work on cellphones, tablets, touch screen laptops, and laptop mouse track pads.
I give Risk of new RSI 3 out of 5.
Overuse of a pen can lead to RSI in many parts of the hand and arm. When I use this during my workday, my hand gets fatigued and sometimes my elbow and shoulder.
I give Hand risk 2 out of 5.
Stylus pens score low in this category for obvious reasons – it can exacerbate your existing RSI symptoms if you use it too much.
I give Portability 5 out of 5 because they are just like a pen!
They fit right in your pocket and you can take them anywhere.
I give Price 5 out of 5 because they are very affordable. Perhaps one of the cheapest accessibility gadgets ever!
I give Appearance/Coolness 5 out of 5 because they come in so many colors.
My recommendation
I think that anyone with computer related RSI should give these a try. Yes, they can pose a risk of injury due to overuse, but can be one more alternative method to diversify your computer input tools.
